Do you know Mount Everest has been named after whom. It is named after Sir George Everest, Surveyor-General of India from 1830 to 1843. He was the one who completed the Great Trigonometric Survey of India along the meridian arc from the south of India extending north to Nepal. His house and laboratory built in 1821 today lies neglected in Mussoorie.
