This Friday, the Nov. 11, 2011, a date when three 11s are alligning for the first time in a century. Many of us are eying on the significance of this date. At one side numerologists are predicting on the basis of their numbers and at the other side psychologists are denying by stating it the ‘Apophenia’. At the 11th second and the 11th minute after the 11th hour, the date and time will form a 12-digit palindrome. It will be 11:11:11 on 11/11/11.
11, a very strange number
Religious leaders tell that all numbers has both positive and negative aspects except for 11. The 16th century scholar Petrus Bungus says, “Eleven has no connection with divine things, no ladder reaching up to things above, nor any merit." Stuck between the divine numbers 10 and 12, 11 was pure evil, and represented sinners.
Psychologist says it’s Apophenia
This is a tell-tale sign of Apophenia. When someone finds out about the phenomenon, they subconsciously start keeping track of all the 11s they see. Our brains can't help noticing the repeating digits, and seeing them as meaningful.
“Fascination with dates is a part of myth and symbols in human mind which always strives for some strength beyond itself that is why all the auspicious and omen becomes necessity” says Alok Bajpai, a psychologist from NIMHANS.
11 Stands for illumination
Ruchika Bakshi, a hypnotherapist and a life coach says, “11.11.11 according to me is a very significant day on this planet. In the simplest way, it means that the entire humanity is being given a conscious choice to ascend.”
The number 11, according to her, stands for illumination. Illumination your true self of who you are. It's about saying yes to illuminate our lives with love, peace, joy, success, abundance, health, freedom, wealth, and everything that we deserve.”
A sextuplet moment
Tom Meltzer writes in The Guardian, "We have had, since 2000, 10 such sextuplet moments, from one minute past one on January 1, 2001, to 10:10:10, on October 10 last year. This Friday's alignment, however, is the only one to consist entirely of a single digit, and — assuming we don't suddenly switch to a calendar with 22 months — will be the only moment of its kind for 100 years."
Binary numeral system
According to www.timeanddate.com the numerical sequence of November 11 holds a special significance in the binary numeral system, which is the base-2 number system that represents numeric values using two symbols, 0 and 1. The date of November 11 has a binary number of 111110 where it has a decimal equivalent of 62 in the year 2010, and a binary number of 111111 with a decimal equivalent of 63 in the year 2011.
Website describes the numerology behind 11/11/11 and calculates that the number eleven has a special characteristic in mathematics where it is the sixth prime number. It contains some interesting peculiarities where the number eleven times itself equals a palindrome:

Film on "11/11/11"
A new horror film, "11/11/11," has even been made for the occasion. "On the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the eleventh year, a gateway will open … and on this day, innocent blood will spill," says a voiceover in the trailer.
IBDF describes, "After the death of his wife and child, an author travels to Barcelona to see his estranged brother and dying father, where he learns that his life is plagued by events that occur on 11/11/11".
