Craze of supersonic speed bikes is soaring high in India. On seeing the increasing craze World’s most iconic brands are creeping in Indian market.
Surprisingly, India doesn't have scientific traffic engineering which forms the basis of road safety improvement practiced in US and UK since 1930s. At least 13 people die every hour in road accidents in the country. Large numbers of victims of two wheelers are mostly youths who take a pride in driving at supersonic speeds.
The report pointed to speeding, drinking-driving and low use of helmets as the main contributing factors. We are responsible for our own safety, so my dear friends instead of blaming others if we take few precautions we can reduce this rate considerably.
1. Beware of animals, foolish pedestrians who you can find anytime running and crossing the road without any signals and indicators.
2. Don’t expect auto-rickshaw riders, rickshaw riders to follow traffic rules and always wear helmet and overtake only after giving indicator.
3. Always keep a safe distance from vehicles and stay alert as these can turn abruptly right after giving left signal.
4. Always give enough space for heavier vehicles for their movement because heavier vehicles could inflict big damage to the light vehicles.
5. Often people can hop in intruding your way from the small passages provided for maintenance purposes.
6. Blind turns are dangerous. Take care of blind turns/U-turns while driving on fast speeds. Sometime you can encounter U-turns without any prior information.
7. Take care of speed breakers. In many cases, color of the speed breakers may resemble with the color of road. Hence, you may not notice that you are hitting a
speed breaker and it may be fatal.
8. In sub-urban areas, use hand and light signals (indicators) simultaneously. Other drivers or pedestrians’ may not follow light indicators properly, so take of them. They
can be dangerous for you.
9. Drive safe in rainy season. Don’t accelerate your speed if it is wet or raining. There may be sticky and muddy side pathways and sudden break application may result in skid. Using sudden breaks may result in overturn of your vehicle due to muddy sideways especially during rainy days.
10. Always take care of vehicles both running in front as well as behind as many a times accidents result because of others mistakes. So, take care and drive safe.
