The research was carried out by scientists of the American Chemical Society (ACS). They said that the cucumber sandwich to be had for getting cool should be made from whole wheat bread. It should be served with mayonnaise and sea salt for best effects.

The researchers further said that fruits and vegetables with high water content are the best foods for summer. Cucumber is one such fruit but so are celery and watermelon. Besides, people also need to consume grains as they contain magnesium and calcium which are needed to prevent cramps in the heat of summer.

Spicy foods cause a lot of perspiration. Since perspiration is the body’s natural way of keeping cool, it is time to have your favourite curries in summer. You can try ginger or the traditional capsaicin in the season. The researchers pointed out this to be reason behind the preference for spicy foods in hot countries.
